Houston County Electric Cooperative along with eight other cooperatives in the East Texas area sponsor a leadership camp called ETREYS (East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar). It is held on the SFA campus in Nacogdoches the second week of July each year. The camp is offered to high school sophomores and juniors with an "A" and "B" average.

Activities start on Monday and go through Thursday. The top eleven students are presented scholarships at an awards banquet Thursday evening.

Speakers from all walks of life including teachers, athletes and professional leaders take part in the daily sessions. Students may take advantage of motivational and leadership skills training along with training on how to apply themselves in everday situtations.

Students may apply through their high school counselors however; final decisions are made by each cooperative. To find out where to apply click here
